Applying for Energy Assistance? Here’s What You Will Need

Winter is almost here and with it comes colder temperatures and potentially higher energy bills.

We’re here to help. Millions of dollars in state and federal energy assistance are available for residents who may be struggling to pay their energy bills.

We’re committed to helping secure energy assistance for customers by working with our community partners across the region to ensure available assistance funding gets to those who need it most.

Whether a temporary or extended financial hardship, we encourage residents to apply for energy assistance available in the District of Columbia and Maryland. Visit pepco.com/energyassistance to learn more about state and local payment assistance programs.

Here are a few key documents you will need to apply for most programs:

  • Government issued photo ID
  • Copies of social security cards for all household members
  • Proof of income
  • Copy of your most recent energy bill
  • Proof of U.S. citizenship or legal residency status

We’re committed to making sure our customers have the ability to heat and cool their homes. That’s why we offer budget billing, flexible payment arrangements, and payment plans to help residents who may be facing financial strains manage their energy bills.
