Business Leader by Day, Salsa Star by Night – Making a Dancing Difference

Dancing into the hearts of many while making a difference, Marisa Slaten made a big statement with her dance moves at this year’s The Dancing with the Delaware Stars event. By day, Slaten leads as the director of Regulatory Strategy and Services, and by night, she led on the dance floor with a perfect score for her salsa performance that benefited The Greater Dover Boys and Girls Club and Mom’s House of Dover.

“I love dancing,” Slaten said. “Representing my company by doing something that I love made me very proud. Supporting two great organizations and making a difference for others made the whole night even more special.”

The Dancing with the Delaware Stars event raised a total of $225,000 in support of these organizations.

“The Boys and Girls Clubs are so important to our communities,” Slaten said. “I share their core belief that children should have a safe place to learn and grow. The work of Mom’s House also embraces the importance of youth development and creating strong families.”

In addition to giving back through dance, Slaten also serves on several volunteer boards, including the Board of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Delaware, the Delaware Sustainable Business Council, Leadership New Jersey and the Esther Project.

Slaten’s show stopping performance and great work in the community is just one example of the ways Delmarva Power employees are making a difference in the communities we serve. In 2019, our employees volunteered more than 18,600 hours to help more than 460 organizations throughout Delaware and Maryland—that’s equal to volunteering more than 2,300 workdays!
